Your Name Is Your Front Door

A domain name is how people reach your website and your email. If it lapses, both stop working. Someone else can then buy the name. That is why the most important thing we do with domains is simple. We keep them renewed and in your name.

Picking a Good Name

The best names are short, easy to say on the phone, and easy to spell. A few tips:

• Use your business name if you can. Add your town if the plain name is taken.
• Stick with .com if it is open. People type it by habit.
• Skip hyphens and numbers. They are hard to say out loud.
• Check that the name is not someone else's trademark.

Moving a Domain You Already Own

You can move a domain from another registrar to us. It takes a few steps:

1. Unlock the domain at your current registrar.
2. Get the transfer code, sometimes called an auth code.
3. Start the transfer with us and approve it by email.
4. We copy your DNS records first, so your site and email keep working.

A domain cannot move within 60 days of being registered or moved. That is an industry rule, not ours.

What DNS Means for You

Common Questions

Who owns the domain if I register it with you?

You do. We register it with your business as the owner. If you ever leave, we give you the transfer code.

Can I keep my domain somewhere else and still use your hosting?

Yes. We will tell you which DNS records to change, or make the change with you on a call.

What happens if my domain expires?

Your site and email stop working. After a grace period, the name can be sold to someone else. Auto renew is on for every domain we manage so this does not happen.

Should I buy other endings like .net too?

Only if you have a reason, like protecting a brand name. Most local businesses do fine with one good .com.

How long does a domain transfer take?

It often takes several days, and it depends on the registrar you are leaving. Your site and email keep working while it moves.
